Arab nations present heritage at Jeddah book fair

Jordan, Sudan and Yemen are among the dozens of Arab and Islamic countries participating in the fourth Jeddah International Book Fair.
The event is expected to attract up to 50,000 visitors a day and features workshops, cultural activities and entertainment.
The event was aimed at showcasing heritage and traditions in their most beautiful forms in a way that aligned with the environment in Jeddah and the rest of the Kingdom.
Hundreds of publishing houses from 40 countries are taking part in the 10-day book fair, which this year has “tolerance and peace” as its theme.
The event was opened late December by Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal. It ends Jan. 5, 2019.
Earlier, Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishal bin Majed said the event “supports the publishing movement in the Kingdom” and reflects Saudis’ interest in books.
The venue was designed in the form of a tent, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s heritage and originality, he added.
