The Labor Standards Development Authority in Sharjah (LSDA) has celebrated the 48th UAE National Day with a special flavor. It has reached out for hundreds of workers in a major construction site and celebrated with them on this occasion. By sharing the celebrations with the workers, LSDA aimed to deepen the sense of loyalty and belonging to the country and the stability and security it offers to UAE nationals and residents.

LSDA’s technical and administrative teams went to the workers' gathering areas in the Mamsha construction site, and celebrated the National Day there with more than 500 workers on the site. The LSDA teams distributed gifts and umbrellas at the workers.

His Excellency Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labor Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, said: “Paying special attention to both workers and employers in Sharjah and meeting their needs are part of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to improve the work environment in the Emirate.” He added: “The LSDA’s various programs and activities are aimed at integrating workers into the various national, cultural and sporting events in Sharjah, as part of the Authority's strategic plan.”

The Authority was established by an Emiri Decree issued by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, out of his keen interest to provide an innovative and ideal working environment in the Emirate of Sharjah. The Authority provides support to employers and workers in cooperation and coordination with the concerned government and private departments, to improve the performance of this sector, and to keep pace with the development witnessed by the Emirate of Sharjah.

The Authority also aims to propose strategies and policies necessary to develop labor standards, to improve labor accommodations, to propose the general standards necessary to qualify the cadres of technical and professional aspects, to develop the cultural, intellectual and health level of the workers. These are achieved by conducting awareness lectures and seminars on workers’ rights and responsibilities, the legal procedures to ensure those rights and fulfill obligations. It also provided advice on the labor law and regulations.
