The announcement was made during the Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission to the UAE, KSA and Qatar led by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD.

Designed and manufactured in Ireland, the PEL Baby and Mega patented range of glass bottle crushers transform waste glass bottles into "Cullets" a valuable raw material commodity, diverting millions of glass bottles annually away from landfill into the indigenous manufacture of new glass bottles. The glass cullets are used in the manufacture of new glass bottles by local company Frigoglass based in Jebel Ali, a partner in the Glass Bottle Closed-Loop Program, and sees the GCC region take the lead in environmental protection innovation.

Speaking from Dubai Minister Bruton said: "I am delighted to welcome this very exciting announcement from Orwell International in conjunction with TSSC Dubai. Orwell International is a highly innovative Irish company and it is great to see machinery designed and manufactured in Ireland being successfully employed in this very important market. Once again we are seeing the importance of innovation in securing new export contracts for growing Irish companies, ultimately supporting more jobs back home. I look forward to following Orwell International's continued growth in the region and I wish them every success for the future".

The PEL Baby & Mega Jaws glass bottle crushers by reducing waste glass bottle bulk into cullets enables 100% glass bottle waste to be reused in the manufacture of new bottles, making a dramatic positive sustainable impact on the environment. At Dubai's Gulfood 2014, the Baby Jaws Under-Counter Glass Bottle Crusher, the only unit of its kind in the world, won "The Best New Catering Equipment Innovation Award". The PEL Compactors and Balers reduce cardboard, plastic bottles, cans, tins and general waste bulk by 66 per cent. They are predominantly targeted at the hospitality industry and other audiences include retail, education, agriculture and equestrian sectors.

Steve Lynch, Managing Director, Orwell International, commented: "The Baby and Mega Jaws glass bottle crushers, invented and manufactured in Ireland, generate significant immediate self financing cost benefits to the hospitality industry introducing increased staff efficiencies and substantial waste disposal cost savings.

"By transforming waste glass bottles into a valuable commodity to be used in the manufacture of new glass bottles it introduces immediate sustainable environmental benefits, reducing energy costs by 40 percent, water pollution by 50 percent, and accumulative greenhouse gases are reduced by 41 percent. There is nothing else like it anywhere in the world."

Margaret Paul, Resort General Manager of Madinat Jumeirah, said: "We are extremely proud to show leadership in sustainable practices, and we are delighted to share this responsibility with colleagues and guests at Madinat Jumeirah Resort.

"Having recently introduced the Mega Jaws bottle crushing machine to Jumeirah Mina A'Salam, Jumeirah Al Qasr and Madinat Jumeirah Conference and Events Centre, we are pleased with the simple and efficient way this machinery operates. The results of this glass recycling process are a successful contribution to our reduce, reuse, recycle environmental initiatives."

On researching the market opportunity in the UAE for the PEL Baby & Mega range of bottle crushers Enterprise Ireland Dubai in particular Eamon Sikafi provided and continues to provide invaluable professional advice, direction and introductions to potential importers and leading hotel groups opening the door of opportunity for Orwell International.

Brendan Flood, International Sales & Partnering Manager, Enterprise Ireland who is accompanying Minister Bruton on the trade mission commented; "Enterprise Ireland is committed to growing Irish exports to the Gulf Region to €6BN by 2020. It is through partnerships between Orwell International and TSSC Dubai that this target will be achieved."

The trade mission to the U.A.E, Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has 63 Irish companies participating, continues until Friday 24th April 2015.
